Wheel of Fortune, Seven of Cups, The Star, and Page of Swords on the bottom
As old cycles repeat themselves, there are things that you consider that are not even meant to be considered. Do not let the wave of emotions lead you to do something that is not true to who you are. Instead, lean into the feelings that your body brings up. Work through them in real-time, but do not act on them.
The wheel of fortune speaks of cycles that continue to happen. This card is known to stand for periods, changes in the seasons, and cycles that come and go. This week remember this is just another one of the cycles that we can grow and learn from. Some cycles come to teach us, and some come for us to finally learn that lesson and not repeat it again. What is the cycle you keep finding yourself in? Is it fear to be vulnerable with others about how you are feeling? Is it abandonment issues that are at your core keeping you running? What is that thing that keeps happening over and over again that has you running, considering things that are not even meant for you?
That is the energy of this week. So before you sign off on that new thing or run in that new direction, step back and look at cycles that you may continue to repeat and need to finally see them for what they are and bring them to a halt.
Think about the timing of right now; the New Year is about to begin, so this card is right on point for cycles. It is that time of the year when we swear we won’t repeat what we did the previous year, and then we fall back into old habits. You know what they say, old habits die hard. Don’t let old habits take you down the same path in the New Year. This time of the year is great for cleansing and releasing. This is not a time to pick up new things but to reassess what did work, what did not, and where you want your 2023 to go.
New Year Cleansing Rituals:
Cutting and burning hair
Sweeping your house back to front
Cleaning your house on New Year’s Eve/the week leading up
With the seven of cups, we see all these different things and think well, if I can just do that, I will have this, or if I can just go there, I will do this. But in reality, none of it is alignment with you. None of it is meant for you. The reality is you are having to let places and people go; therefore, you want to run towards something to bring you safety and comfort, and it is just not going to end well if you do what you normally do.
The star can show us our body, how to be vulnerable and how to really put it all out there. The star can also be a flood of emotions and a lack of balance between emotions and grounding. The star is a water card, and with water signs, we sometimes numb the pain by going after another emotion. This week we have to learn to sit with uncomfortable emotions.
In the end, we will come out releasing things we need to release, and in our mind, it might not feel good, but there are some things here that have to be worked out in the mind. The lack of clarity in the body due to emotions is really going to trip people up this week.
This week would be a great week for a cleansing bath, white bath1, or offerings to Obatala2.
A great recipe for a cleansing bath is hyssop, rue, and lemongrass.
If we play our cards right and work through our emotions this week, we can find some healthy new ideas and mental clarity at the end.

Look at a previous blog post for the recipe.
Only if you practice Ifa, you do not have to be initiated to leave offerings to Obatala because he is everyone’s head, but you do have to have knowledge of him and come to him correctly.
